The Last of the Mohicans

Whew, this was a slog; I gave up after a hundred pages or so. I can't imagine trying to read this as a high-schooler! It was written in 1826, but affects a pre-revolutionary kind of language, which makes it somehow much harder to penetrate than books that are actually from the 1700s.

It's hard to believe this was ever a popular book.
