The Devil and the Dark Water

I loved Turton's first mystery novel, Evelyn Hardcastle, but I didn't love this one! Maybe it was the historical setting that just didn't feel pulled-off. Maybe it was the fact that I read a paper copy, whereas with Evelyn I listened to an audiobook, where I think I fall more forgivingly into an author's idiosyncrasies.
