A murder mystery / detective series, highly recommended by Helen DeWitt of all people. Maybe it's better in Italian? Not my genre of course, but I found this mostly uninteresting. Our hero is a noble detective in fascist Italy who can see dead people, in The Sixth Sense sense. So it helps him solve murders! But this barely seems to influence the plot, or at least not in the first 2/3.
