An Island to Oneself

Tom Neale

1966

Notes

Tom Neale (weirdly, not the same Tom Neale whose book about living aboard a sailboat I recently read) lived on an actual deserted island for years, on purpose, and wrote this book about the journey. It's a completely fascinating read, and mostly for the process parts: Neale describes exactly how he prepared for his exile, what he purchased, and how he built himself a miniature civilization.
